NLP - West Stratford Economic Manifesto Report 2012

During 2012, economics and regeneration consultancy, Nathaniel Litchfield & Partners, was instructed to produce a clear and independent report summarising the economic impacts of the West of Stratford proposals.

The report provides an indication of the number of jobs and the level of investment and expenditure that will be associated with the development and also identifies the broad benefits that this will offer to Stratford-on-Avon District. In summary, the West of Stratford development will provide a wide package of employment and economic benefits for the local area and beyond.

  • 100 construction jobs plus 120 additional indirect and induced construction-related jobs
  • 95 permanent operational jobs, plus a further 40 spin off jobs across the region
  • £6.5 million GVA from the construction of the scheme, in addition to the £76.5 million investment in the project
  • £2.7 million expenditure from new residents to the area
  • £845,000 retail expenditure from new residents to the area which is to be retained within Stratford upon Avon
  • £8.2 million in New Home Bonus income plus and additional £1.3 million per annum in Council Tax payments in perpetuity
  • Enhanced range and choice of housing, including affordable housing
  • An improvement in the local alignment of jobs and housing, resulting in sustainability enhancements through a reduction in commuting movements
